The artist Jim Lee started drawing X-Men in the early 90's, if memory serves it was 1990 issue #248. His art was crazy detailed with a lot of cross hatching and imo, square/cubism style of composition. I really took his work and subsequently incorporated bits and pieces of his style into mine.

This was the first piece I did of his work. Sure it is a direct "copy" of Lee's work but none the less its colorful and true to his style. I was 14 when this was drawn and inked. 18" x 24".

Just a quick post for the day, ironically it took me about 10 hours to get this piece finalized. This is believe it or not my very first attempt at a real portrait. It is of my daughter Ripleigh, I hope you like it. This will be the first of very many I hope.

Akira the comic book was very important to me when it came out. The story of a no name biker scrub that only had one friend in the world and was given absolute power to control anything and everything, yet that power literally and figuratively corrupted this kid name Tetsuo.

The art style in the first two dozen books just blew me away, it was my first real introduction into anything Anime or Manga. After this I worked into other movies like Ninja Scroll and later Ghost in the Shell and Fist of the North Star and eventually just started hand drawing panels from the books. These are full size panels drawn quickly and never meant to be clean enough to ink.

These I believe are from Book 6 I think, I'll update exactly which book after I find all my Akira books. These were drawn ~1990-1991

Welcome..

Hi, I'm new here, you are new here, so we both already have something in common. For most people something in common is all it takes to create something lasting and grand.

I will be posting new and old art here for all to see. Bear with me if I happen to fall off the boat and rant from time to time, so let this be my disclaimer to you now. I am 95% soft hearted Do-Gooder-SuperDad but sometimes I let my inner warlock roam free..

So thanks for visiting I hope this goes well, nothing in my life would be greater than being paid to put pencil to paper or stylus to Wacom 22HD!

Here is a little sampling as I get this up and going. 2012 Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo Chalk Art Show.
